Celebrate Mom: Mother-of-the-Bride and Groom Looks

With Mother’s Day coming up this Sunday, we thought we would give a shout out to the amazing women in your lives who have been there through it all - your moms and mom-like figures. They have been there to celebrate your engagement, your bridal shower, and now, they will be there to celebrate the biggest day of your life - your wedding. So after she’s helped with your dress search and you’ve said “yes to the dress”, help her do the same! We know it’s hard for mom to find a dress that isn’t matronly and but still age appropriate, so we’ve rounded up what we would pick out for mom that will match her style and personality.

  • For the Classic Mom:
If you are planning an evening, black-tie fête, we could totally envision a chic momma wearing this classic Halston Heritage cape sleeve dress. To add a bit more drama to the sheer sleeves and flounce skirt of the dress, accessorize with our Lillian hair comb tucked into a perfectly coiffed bun (bonus points for gifting this to your mom to thank her for all her wedding help!). These metallic kitten heels (currently on sale!) will allow your mom to greet guests and dance all night long. Finish the look with a pearl clutch to house all her day-of necessities on hand.

  • For the Cool Mom:
If you’re opting for a more fashion-forward city wedding, we’d love to see a Mother-of-the-Bride or Groom don a jumpsuit, which we think is one of the most versatile and flattering pieces of clothing you can wear. With the right color (think soft hues) and cut (tailored yet conservative), mom will stand out in the best way possible. We personally love this floral and striped print silk jumpsuit from Roseanna. Have mom clip our organza Garden Rose on her jumpsuit to complete the floral bloom look. Finish the look with a pair of low-heeled comfy Stuart Weitzman lamé heels and glittery Edie Parker clutch. And to make sure mom really stands out from the crowd, accompany her effortlessly cool look with these white and black diamond drop earrings to wow all the family friends she made you invite - ha!

  • For the Bold Mom:
If your favorite adjective to describe mom is ‘bold’, then we’d love to see a Mother-of-the-Bride don a design from super chic designer Dodo Bar. We could totally see mom wear this embellished, midi-length frock for a spring or summer garden wedding, and we kind of love the more graphic floral print for a mom with a certain je ne sais quoi. Add a pair of Prada silver stacked heels, which will work well for an outdoor celebration (no sinking into the grass) and a few Shirley & Audrey Daphne Bobby pins pinned to a classic half up/half down hair do for some added sparkle.
